Manchester United identify Erling Haaland alternative
Manchester United have identified an alternative for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland after concern arose over the player’s availability.
Erling Haaland was reportedly set to join Manchester United in this year’s January transfer window. The English media covered the story to such an extent that it almost felt as if the Leeds-born Norwegian striker was destined to reunite with his former Molde FK manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
A reliable transfer expert in Fabrizio Romano also went on to claim that Solskjaer had a private jet arranged for the arrival of his former protégé. But at the end of the day, the deal didn’t go through due to a variety of reasons that the club had not seen coming.
Ultimately, it was Borussia Dortmund who completed the signing of Erling Haaland, having triggered the marksman’s release clause of €20 million.
As far as the report from Marca is concerned, the Bundesliga club also had to pay €10 million each to Mino Raiola and the Norwegian’s father Alf-Inge Haaland for arranging the deal.
Saving the money, United chose to secure the services of Bruno Fernandes in the same transfer market. And the rest is history.
Recent reports have already claimed that Manchester United might miss out on Haaland yet again next summer due to their sour relationship with Mino Raiola. Manchester City and Chelsea have also prioritized him in what could be a fascinating saga surrounding the striker.

As per The Athletic, Manchester United will pursue Dominic Calvert-Lewin if they do indeed fail to sign Haaland next summer. Since Carlo Ancelotti became the manager of Everton, the transformation in the Englishman’s game has been exceptional.
The 23-year-old English international has now scored 22 goals from 37 matches in all competitions while playing under the management of Ancelotti.
This season, he has scored 11 goals from 14 Premier League appearances so far, proving to be a contender for the 2020-21 Premier League Golden Boot award.
Calvert-Lewin possesses a sensational leap on set-pieces and as a result, is an aerial threat to any defence. Every team these days prefer having at least one fox-in-the-box and one target man in their squad. And while Manchester United have several pacy forwards in their ranks, it would be great for them to have someone with Calvert-Lewin’s qualities as well.
