Gary Neville has sent a warning to the Manchester United board ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
After a stumbling start to the season, Manchester United find themselves in a terrific spot right now. The Red Devils sit at third in the Premier League and will have the chance to go second when they take on Leicester City tomorrow.
This is an incredible turnaround after the club had lost two of their first three league games of the season, including a 6-1 demolition at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur. They are in great form at the moment though and will be favourites against Brendan Rodgers’ side.
And if a title challenge is truly in the Red Devils’ future, then they might very well try to bring in a couple of players in the January transfer window and fill any voids there are in the squad. Gary Neville has warned them not to buy for the sake of buying though.
As reported by Sky Sports, the Manchester United legend said:
"“If the right player is available then yes, Manchester United should go into the January transfer market because they need to improve the team.“But if the player is not there, they won’t panic, they have been doing things a bit better in the market in recent years.“What I would say is that Manchester United are a confusing bunch, two or three weeks ago you looked and this team and thought it would be a tough old season.”"

It is not that good players are not available in January. It was just this year that the club brought in Bruno Fernandes and that has turned out to be the best transfer deal that they have made in a long time. The Portuguese international has been an absolute superstar since moving to Old Trafford and might very well be the best player in the Premier League right now.
Those with a good memory will also remember that the Red Devils signed both Patrice Evra and Nemanja Vidic back in January of 2006. But for all those hits, there have been a number of flops as well. The name of Alexis Sanchez comes to mind.
So this is some great advice from Gary Neville. The club must only bring in quality players at this point of time. The squad looks set and although there are some voids, there is no requirement for panic buy.
