Brighton and Hove Albion are looking to sign the out-of-favour Manchester United star on loan in the upcoming January transfer window.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been very unpredictable when it comes to picking his starting XI this season. And that is understandable considering the wealth of options Manchester United have.

Apart from some certain names, fans have already seen loads of changes in formations, tactics, and personnel. However, despite all this, one man who hasn’t featured as much as he did last season is Daniel James.

The £15 million signing from Swansea City started his Old Trafford career brilliantly last season. But in the 2020-21 campaign, the 23-year-old Welsh winger has played just 371 minutes of football.

His four appearances in the Premier League have brought him just one goal, which he scored in the game against Leeds United last Sunday. Other than that, James has a Champions League goal to his name as well.

Having made a flying start to his life in Manchester last year, scoring a sublime goal against Chelsea in his first Premier League appearance for the club. But his involvement has been restricted to only seven appearances across all competitions this season.

And there is no certainty that he will get many more opportunities in Ole Gunnar Solakjaer’s side in the near future, considering that the trio of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial are starting to slowly rediscover their form.

Therefore, James might have to explore the possibility of making a January switch in order to acquire some regular game time in the second half of the season. And according to The Sun, Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has shown interest in signing him on loan from Manchester United in the winter transfer window.

The manager, who was at Swansea City before this, wants to reunite with his former protégé and the growing belief is that the Red Devils might actually let James leave in January.

With the EURO 2021 coming shortly after the end of the ongoing season, the Welshman intends to play regular football in order to keep himself in his national team’s plans. Apart from Brighton and Hove Albion, Leeds United are also keen to make a deal for the winger with pace to burn.
