Manchester United want to sell Jesse Lingard on one condition
Manchester United are reportedly ready to let Jesse Lingard leave in the upcoming January transfer window on one condition.
Once compared to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta, Jesse Lingard is currently enduring his worst season ever since moving up to the Manchester United first-team picture.
Several eyebrows were raised when Lingard, despite his poor form, was given 40 appearances in all competitions by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last season. However, the majority of those came in the first-half of the campaign, before the arrival of Bruno Fernandes in the January transfer window.
Fernandes’ addition coupled with a surge in creativity helped United secure a Champions League spot. And on the final matchday, it was Jesse Lingard’s goal in injury time against Leicester City that saw United finish third in the league.
The 2020-21 season was initially perceived as a season of sheer resurrection for Lingard. There was plenty of interest from around the world for his signature over the summer transfer window. And as far as the reports are concerned, Lingard came close to quitting the club.

Now completely out-of-favour at Manchester United, Lingard has made just two appearances this season, both coming in the rather less significant Carabao Cup. He hasn’t made the matchday squad since their 6-1 humbling against Tottenham Hotspur last October.
According to reports coming from Manchester Evening News (via Tribal Football), the Red Devils will let Jesse Lingard leave on loan in the upcoming January transfer window only if any suitor agrees on covering the player’s wages. He currently earns £100,000-a-week and United are keen to reduce their wage-related burdens.
Lingard reportedly wants to continue plying his trade for a Premier League side, with clubs like Aston Villa and Sheffield United believed to be keeping tabs on the English international. And as of now, a January loan move could be the only possible way out of Old Trafford for the 28-year-old.
