Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to let the highly-rated youngster leave on loan as he has failed to break into the Manchester United first-team this season.

Following the arrival of Alex Telles from FC Porto in the summer transfer window, left-back is one of the strongest areas in Manchester United’s squad at the moment.

Luke Shaw has enjoyed a career revival and is performing admirably at the moment. So much so that he seems back in the England national team plans and was called up to the Three Lions by Gareth Southgate, only to pull out due to a hamstring injury suffered against Everton. He has continued to perform at a high level even after returning from the injury.

Telles is yet to establish himself in the first-team. But it is expected that he will be a major part of Solskjaer’s plans once he settles in English football. One man who has been lost in the shuffle though is Brandon Williams.

The academy graduate rated at a staggering £36 million had made 36 appearances last season and it had looked like he was on the verge of establishing himself as the first-choice left-back at Old Trafford.

He has fallen down the pecking order quite quickly though since then. This season he has played just 246 minutes of first-team football. And it looks like the manager is ready to let him leave on loan in January. According to The Telegraph, Southampton are interested in taking him to St. Mary’s for the rest of the season and Solskjaer will not stand in the way of the move.

This is perhaps the best move for both the club and the player. It is unlikely that Williams will get many opportunities in the first-team ahead of either Shaw or Telles this season. At 20 years of age, he needs to be playing regular football though. And a loan move away could help him develop instead of keeping him at Old Trafford and allowing his career to stagnate.
