Valencia agreed to sign Manchester United star ‘three weeks ago’
Valencia had agreed to sign the wantaway Manchester United star ‘three weeks ago’ but the move fell through when the coaches turned it down.
After a successful two year loan spell at Sheffield United, Dean Henderson returned to Manchester United only to be the understudy to David de Gea. And while many believe that the Englishman should be starting for the Red Devils, the veteran goalkeeper has managed to keep his place in the team for now.
In the midst of all this though, Sergio Romero has lost his place in the squad altogether. And there is very little chance of him getting any meaningful minutes unless there is an injury or two in the position.
The Argentine has already made it clear that he wants to depart Old Trafford as soon as possible although his contract runs out at the end of the season. And it looks like Valencia had agreed a deal to sign him only for it to fall through due to their coaches.
Cope reports (via Sport Witness):
"‘Valencia had closed the signing of the Argentine goalkeeper three weeks ago.’"

This was due to Jasper Cillessen suffering an injury. But it looks like the Valencia coaches stepped in at the last moment to make sure that they did not end up completing a deal for the Argentine veteran.
This has been a huge fall from grace for Romero. Just at the end of last season it was looking like he could be set to make a run as the first choice keeper owing to De Gea’s terrible run of form which saw him make a string of high-profile mistakes.
Solskjaer decided to stick with the Spaniard though and now with the arrival of Henderson, Romero has fallen further down the pecking order. And at this point of time, it would be the best thing for all parties involved if they part ways.
The Argentine is not the only goalkeeper unhappy with his standing at the club though. There have been rumours that Henderson could also look for a move away in January if the manager does not provide him with more opportunities.
