It looks like Manchester United will have to pay some hefty add-on fees in the near future judging by Bruno Fernandes’ performances.

Manchester United managed to get their hands on Bruno Fernandes in January of this year from Sporting CP and the Portuguese playmaker has made an immediate impact on the Red Devils. It was largely due to his contribution in the second half of the season that they managed to finish in the top four which secured them their spot in the Champions League.

The 26-year old joined United for an initial transfer fee of around £47 or €55 million in January and since then has been a regular in Solakjaer’s side.

He has already made 38 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 22 goals along side providing 14 assists which is a remarkable record for a creative midfielder. His performance levels have remained exceptionally high this season as well, contributing to 16 goals directly in just 16 appearances so far.

According to a report in A Bola, United appeared to have agreed a deal worth a possible €80 million to bring the Portuguese international to Old Trafford, the terms being that €55 million was to be paid initially and the remaining €25 million will be paid to the club as performance based add-ons.

And it looks like United have already started to pay some of those add-ons for the 26-year-old Portuguese international, paying a total believed to be around €58 million (£52 million) till. The emergency January signing has proven to be a saviour for the sinking ship that the Red Devils were looking like in the first half of last season. And it might not be too long before Sporting CP get paid the entire €80 million if Fernandes continues in the same vein of form.

After suffering a disappointing defeat at the hands of PSG on Wednesday night, it was Fernandes again who turned things around for United after coming on against West Ham United. So while the Red Devils might be set to pay hefty add-ons in the future, we are sure they won’t mind it all.
