Everton and Wolves join the race to sign Manchester United target
Everton and Wolves have reportedly joined the race to sign the Brazilian midfielder who is also wanted by Manchester United.
The upcoming summer transfer window will be a crucial one for Manchester United. While the summer of 2020 was all about adding creativity in order to backup Bruno Fernandes, who arrived last winter, adding an experience striker to the side and bringing in a new left-back to provide competition for Luke Shaw, the upcoming summer transfer window is expected to be the one where the Red Devils build a side ready to challenge for the Premier League.
Central defence and defensive midfield are two of the most significant positions in the squad that are currently crying out for more signings.
If we draw a mild comparison between the two positions that United need to refurbish, it would definitely be defensive midfield that needs immediate reinforcements. If rumours are to be believed then that is exactly what they are planning to do.
According to a report from AS, Manchester United have been monitoring Gustavo Assuncao from FC Famalicão. And at just 20 years of age, he could be a long-term solution to the club’s problems.

But as the aforementioned story suggests, their interest won’t go unmatched. Two more Premier League clubs, namely Everton and Wolverhampton Wanderers, are keeping tabs on the Brazilian midfielder.
Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over the reigns at Old Trafford, United have built a relentless knack for signing young talents from around the globe. And they could soon add Assuncao to that quickly growing list.
The Sao Paulo-born starlet is the son of the former Atletico Madrid midfielder Paulo Assuncao. Apart from the English sides, Nice from France and Sevilla from Spain are continuously monitoring the situation as well. As such, a move away from the Portuguese League seems likely in the near future.
He has already become a regular for the Liga NOS side, making nine appearances for them this season in all competitions. It is believed that Famalicão would allow him to leave in the next summer only if they receive a transfer bid of around €25 million.
