It looks like Manchester United have contacted FC Barcelona as they want to bring one of their stars to Old Trafford in January.
If rumours are to be believed then Manchester United tried and failed to sign Ousmane Dembele from FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window. Apparently, the player himself was a big reason behind the move falling through as he had his eyes set on a future move to Juventus instead according to the Metro.
But recent reports from Spain suggest that the Red Devils were not put off by their initial failure and are set to try again. Mundo Deportivo claim that they have contacted the Spanish giants once again for the 23-year-old winger.
Right-wing is a position of weakness in this Manchester United team. They tried to sign Jadon Sancho in the summer as well but refused to pay Borussia Dortmund’s massive €120 million asking price. Ousmane Dembele was pursued as a cheaper alternative.

The Frenchman joined FC Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund himself and was seen as Neymar’s replacement, who had deserted Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain in a world record deal. It is safe to say that Dembele has failed to deliver on those expectations though.
His career in Spain has been marred by continuous injuries. As a result, he is yet to find his feet despite moving to the Catalan giants in 2017. And chances are that he never will. FC Barcelona will be happy enough to move him on but do not seem willing to let him go on the cheap though as they reportedly have an asking price in the range of €70-80 million.
Now, the question is whether the Red Devils will want to pay that kind of money for a winger who has not done much since his big money move to Camp Nou. To be honest, it would be too big of a risk. Would it be wise to expect Dembele to remain fit in the Premier League? Most probably not. The club would be better off paying Jadon Sancho’s asking price.
