Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are overdependent on one man right now.
Manchester United managed to secure 3 points on Saturday with a narrow 1-0 win against West Bromwich Albion. Although the performance put in by the Red Devils was not something to write home about. The players in the final third of the pitch missed too many chances to score, especially Anthony Martial, who was denied several times by Sam Johnstone.
Once again it was Bruno Fernandes who managed to get the job done by scoring a penalty in the 56th minute of the game, which was enough to get the win. Ultimately, it is the three points that matter the most. But it seems like the United fans are not happy with the win on Saturday.
West Brom are currently at the 18th position in the Premier League table and on paper, should not be giving this United side a hard time. Yet, it was exactly that as the Red Devils had to rely on a penalty to come out with a win in controversial fashion one more time.
And according to club legends Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand this team is overdependent on Bruno Fernandes at the moment. Not that that is necessarily a bad thing.
As reported by Metro, Scholes said in an interview with BT Sports:
"“You do wonder where Man Utd would be without Fernandes.“Before Bruno came in, United couldn’t create a chance.”"

His claims were also backed by Rio Ferdinand who said:
"“Everything comes through him [Fernandes],”“He’s a player who creates and takes on responsibility. It seems like he likes that.”"
It should come as no surprise that recently, that the side have been relying on their Portuguese playmaker way more than Solskjaer would like to admit. In the match against Everton, it was Fernandes who scored twice and providing an assist to top it off.
Let’s just hope that the rest of the side can raise their games as well. At this point of time, while Fernandes is getting them past the line, there is an element of luck involved in their victories as well. They are scraping by in games that they are expected to dominate. That needs to change and quickly.
