The Manchester United star’s availability for the upcoming West Bromwich Albion game is in doubt after he was put into isolation.
Manchester United have not made the start to the season that they would have liked. While they have managed a few impressive wins, like the ones against Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, overall things have been quite disappointing.
As things stand, they sit at 14th in the Premier League with 10 points from the first 7 games. Saturday’s match against West Bromwich Albion provides them an opportunity to bring things back on track. It looks like they will be without one man though.
Edinson Cavani has been forced to isolate after there was a COVID outbreak within the Uruguay squad, according to reports in El Observador. The Athletic Madrid duo of Luis Suarez and Lucas Torreira are two high-profile names who have tested positive. Several staff members have also reportedly done the same.

The report goes on to state that the players are currently isolation in hotel in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo.
The striker has been in brilliant form lately. After opening his account for United with a late strike against Everton, he also bagged goals for the Uruguay national team during the international break. Although, it is worth mentioning that he did get sent off against Brazil after accidentally stepping on Richarlison’s shin.
As things stand, it looks unlikely that Cavani will travel back to England and then play for the Manchester United side on Saturday. Although the possibility of that happening cannot be entirely ruled, the club probably would not take the risk.
On paper, they should have enough to get all three points from the game even without the Uruguayan. But if we have learned anything over the last few weeks, it is that Solskjaer’s side can spring surprises, both negative and positive.
