There appears to be another twist in Manchester United’s transfer quest to bring Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford.

It is no secret that Manchester United tried to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in the previous summer transfer window but failed due to their reluctance to meet the German side’s €120 million asking price for the England international.

Sancho has been an absolute revelation since moving to Germany. Last season, he scored 20 goals and had the same number of assists in just 44 appearances. That is spectacular for any player, forget one who is only 20 years of age. Thus, Dortmund’s asking price is perhaps justified when you see the ridiculous amounts of money being thrown around in the football transfer market these days.

There appears to be a new twist in the Manchester United-Jadon Sancho transfer saga though as Spanish outlet Todofichajes have claimed that the winger has told the Bundesliga club that he ultimately wants the move to Old Trafford.

That could lead to negotiations opening up again between the two clubs. There are even suggestions that a deal could be struck before the end of the January transfer window with the player set to join at the end of the season, similar to what Chelsea did with Christian Pulisic.

It is believed though that Dortmund are still unwilling to budge on their €120 million asking price. And in that case, it will be interesting to see whether the Red Devils are willing to pay that fee just a few months after refusing to do so.

Another fear will be the fact that they leave it a bit too late. United had gotten a free run at Sancho in the summer transfer window due to the effect the global pandemic had had on the finances of clubs around Europe. One would question though whether things will be as easy next time around with clubs like FC Barcelona and Real Madrid also in need of new blood after it appears that their squads have grown stale.
