The Brazilian Football Federation have released a statement after the Manchester United star tested positive while away on international duty.
It is safe to say that Alex Telles has endured some terrible luck since joining Manchester United. The Brazilian left-back moved to the Theatre of Dreams from FC Porto for an initial transfer fee of around €15 million but since then has barely featured.
One of the reasons for that has been the good form of Luke Shaw. With his place in the team on the line, the Englishman has stepped up his game and even earned a call up to the Three Lions. Those hopes were dashed then when he suffered an injury which will keep him out of for the foreseeable future.
This was supposed to be Telles’ opportunity to get a run of games and establish himself as a starter. But now he has tested positive for COVID while away with the Brazilian national team.

The Brazilian Football Federation released the following statement on their website after the return of the positive result as cited by Manchester Evening News:
"“Arana was called on to form the Brazilian squad after left-back Alex Telles tested positive for Covid-19. The player had contracted the virus while still in his club, Manchester United, and is no longer in a transmissive stage.“A new examination will be carried out with the entire delegation on Sunday (November 15). If the test result is again positive, Alex Telles will be recalled [to Manchester United].”"
If Telles does end up testing positive again then it will be a huge blow for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who is already without Shaw. This will leave him with Brandon Williams, who has barely featured this season, as the only recognised left-back at his disposal.
Of course, this continues Telles’ terrible run of luck. He joined the club but then tested positive for COVID after just managing to make a solitary appearance for the Red Devils. And just when it looked like he had managed to catch a break, he has managed to get infected once again.
Let’s just hope that he manages to recover as quickly as possible and get on the pitch for Manchester United. The fans are eagerly waiting to see more of their new Brazilian recruit.
