Gary Neville has been so impressed by the Manchester United star that he has compared him with Wayne Rooney and Eric Cantona.

On Saturday, Manchester United managed to walk out of Goodison Park with a 3-1 away win over Everton despite conceding first. Things turned around when Bruno Fernandes scored an outstanding header and equalized in the 25th minute. And then, Fernandes scored yet again with a curling effort that left Pickford lying on the ground.

In the final minutes of the game it was his assist which helped United’s new number 7, Edinson Cavani secure his first goal for the club and finish things off. All in all, it was a brilliant performance from the Portuguese when the club needed it most.

Since the signing of Bruno Fernandes in January, Manchester United have managed to win 42 points in the Premier League with only Liverpool managing more points in that time frame. Fernandes has made 33 appearances for the club and has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists, which are very promising figures for an attacking midfielder.

Gary Neville believes that Solskjaer has got his hands on a world-class midfielder who has the potential to take the club back to the top of the Table.

As reported by the Express, Gary Neville compared the Portuguese with club legends Wayne Rooney and Eric Cantona:

"“Since Fernandes joined the club I don’t think he’s had a dip yet.“You thought after his first initial goals, assists and impact that he made, you thought ‘Where’s that dip coming? Can he do it in the second season? He’s doing it even better.“When he speaks, he speaks like a Manchester United player, he speaks like a Manchester United captain.“He speaks like a leader, he speaks like someone who wants to win. I think he’s a special player.“You’ve seen players that have come to Manchester United over the last probably 10, 15 years, I don’t think anyone has had as big an impact in such a short space of time as him.“Maybe Rooney, maybe Cantona, those types of names, I think he’s had a similar impact too.”"

It was the impact made by Fernandes following his arriva; that allowed Manchester United to get a top 4 finish in the previous season and a spot in the Champions League as a result, where as prior to his arrival, it was looking like another season where the club would have to fight for even making it to the Europa League.

Although Bruno Fernandes alone will not be enough for the club to regain their place at the top of the Premier League, as many other players have to match the quality delivered by the Portuguese on the field.

It will be interesting to see if they manage to carry the momentum gained from their win over Everton in the upcoming games or if it is another case of one step forward, two steps back, as has been the case so many times in recent memory.
