Manchester United star Luke Shaw looks set to be brought back into the England national set up after over two years out.
It was not too long ago that Luke Shaw was considered one of the premier talents in world football. And when Manchester United decided to fork out £27 million for him, a then world record transfer fee for a teenager, it was considered to be a major coup for the club. Things have clearly gone as well as expected though for the Englishman.
It is easy to forget that he has already spent over six years at the club but he has never managed to quite establish himself as a regular first-team starter for them for a long period of time.
He has undergone what can be only be described as a tumultuous time. He has ended up staying at the club through it all though.

Things are looking up for him at the moment though. Shaw has stepped up his game recently. Of course, the arrival of Alex Telles from FC Porto as his left-back competition might have a lot to do with that. And it appears that his performances are set to be rewarded.
As reported by the Daily Star, Gareth Southgate is set to recall the left-back to the England national team. The last time he had a national call up was back in March of 2019.
Even then though, he was forced to withdraw due to injury. And you have to go back to September of 2018 for his last appearance for the Three Lions. That is over two years ago!
It will be good to see him back in national colours though if indeed given the opportunity. England next face the Republic of Ireland in a friendly before facing off against Belgium and Iceland in the Nations League.
