Manchester United seem interested in bringing the player to Old Trafford for free next summer and appear to have already started negotiations.
This Manchester United squad might not be perfect but they certainly have showcased some impressive form recently despite a number of their players out suggesting the squad is stronger than most fans thought.
One position that has emerged as extremely packed at the moment is midfield. Currently, the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Donny van de Beek, Juan Mata, Fred, Scott McTominay and Nemanja Matic are all at the club. So much so that Pogba has found himself on the bench over the past few weeks while Van de Beek has failed to establish himself in the starting XI since moving to Old Trafford from Ajax.

But it does not look like that will stop the Red Devils from recruiting more midfielders. And AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu seems to be the man on the top of their wishlist. According to Christian Falk, United are in ‘concrete negotiations’ with Calhanoglu.
Calhanoglu has been very impressive for AC Milan but his contract with the club is running out. And it looks like the Turkish international is unlikely to sign a new contract with the Italian giants as talks over an extension have stalled.
It is hard to see how Calhanoglu fits in at Old Trafford with Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes and Donny van de Beek already at the club. Unless of course, one of them ends up leaving the club in the summer as rumours continue to revolve around the Frenchman’s future at the club.
