Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that the new Manchester United signing has tested positive, which is why he has been absent from the squad.

There is no denying the fact that Manchester United are flying high right now and are playing some of the best football that they have done since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. The Red Devils look like a side transformed since their return from the international break.

After a 6-1 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur, alarm bells must have been ringing at Old Trafford with Solskjaer’s future up in the air. But the team have responded in brilliant fashion since then.

A 4-1 win over Newcastle United steadied the ship in the Premier League. It was then followed by a massive upset in the Champions League when United beat Paris Saint-Germain in their own backyard. Then they played out a goalless draw against Chelsea last weekend before smashing RB Leipzig 5-0.

It is not all good news though as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Alex Telles has tested positive for the virus, which must be the reason why he has been missing from the squad the past two matchdays.

As reported by Sky Sports, the Manchester United boss said:

"“Telles has tested positive for coronavirus so he’s been out for a few days. No symptoms though, so he’ll be fine. Back soon.”"

Telles joined the Red Devils on deadline day from FC Porto and will be challenging for the left-back spot in the starting XI. Shaw’s performances have improved greatly as of late as well though and it will be interesting to see if he can keep his place in the team for the foreseeable future.

Right now though, the most important thing is for Telles to recover as quickly as possible and we would like to wish him the best of luck.
