Aside from a busy deadline day which saw four players arrive at Manchester United, the Red Devils also recruited two very special talents from Spain.

Manchester United’s recruitment for their youth teams has been really good in recent years. The likes of Hannibal Mejbri, Facundo Pellistri and the impending arrival of Amad Traore are examples of the club looking to snap up highly-rated young talents from other academies. This recent transfer window saw the club acquire two Spanish talents, Marc Jurado from Barcelona and Alvaro Fernandez Carreras from Real Madrid. And the latter has been touted to be a star for the future.

17-year-old Alvaro Fernandez Carreras was a player at Real Madrid’s Juvenil C team before making the move to England. The Spaniard rejected a new long-term at the Spanish giants and was then swooped up by the Red Devils. Similarly, right back Marc Jurado also swapped Camp Nou for Old Trafford. Another youngster in the form of Isak Hansen-Aaore also joined from Tromso IL to bolster the youth ranks at Old Trafford.

After arriving in the UK, both the Spanish talents were required to quarantine themselves for two weeks and since then have joined the U23s for training.

Fernandez Carreras played for the U23s in their recent victory over Everton and his former employers, according to Spanish site AS were disappointed with the player for leaving the club.

Former coaches of Fernandez Carreras spoke to AS about him and had a lot of positive things to say:

"“Alvaro is a footballer with a great future who has been hurt by having Miguel Gutierrez in front of him.“But the conditions for him to do well in England, he has them, his pace and his centres will be appreciated there.”"

For now, it is only right for the player to develop and adjust to English football by gaining experience amongst the reserves. With the way that this season is going and the number of positive cases increasing, there may be a game or two for Fernandez Carreras to show Manchester United fans what he is made of.
