Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has left the out-of-favour duo out of Manchester United’s 25-man Premier League squad for the season.
There is no doubt that this is a make-or-break season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The club have decided to stick with him and will now be expecting him to take this Manchester United team to the next level.
It is undeniable that the start to the season has not been great but it looks like they are turning it around. The 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Tottenham Hotspur seems to have been the wake up call that they needed. Since that game, they have won 4-1 away at Newcastle United and then managed to come out with a spectacular 2-1 victory away against Paris Saint-Germain last night.
Of course, the most important thing now would be to carry this form moving forward. The club must make sure that this is the launching pad for a big season and not just a bright spot in another disappointing campaign.
Solskjaer certainly seems up for the task. The Baby-faced Assassin was a ruthless scorer as a player. And he doesn’t appear to be afraid of taking ruthless decisions as a manager either.

Manchester United have left out both Phil Jones and Sergio Romero from their 25-man Premier League squad.
Both the veterans have served the club well over the years but at this point of time, it is hard to see either of them being first-team regulars again. Phil Jones is way down the pecking order behind the likes of Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, the returning Axel Tuanzebe and even Marcos Rojo, who has made the squad.
Romero on the other hand will definitely find minutes hard to come by if he ends up staying for the rest of the season. David de Gea looks like he has found his confidence back while Dean Henderson is another fantastic keeper just waiting for the opportunity.
As a result, it is perhaps the right decision to leave them out of the squad and try to move them on in the near future.
