Manchester United have been handed a massive advantage heading into their UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

It is safe to say that Manchester United have not made the start to the season that they would have wanted. While they did win both of their League Cup comfortably, the Premier League has been a completely different story and not a pleasant one. The Red Devils started their campaign in the worst possible fashion, losing 3-1 at home to Crystal Palace. That was followed by an equally suspect performance away against Brighton and Hove Albion, when the hosts hit the woodwork five times and gave away a penalty at the last possible second to hand Solskjaer side a 3-2 win. Things went completely downhill when Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur visited Old Trafford. It was a disastrous performance from Manchester United against their former manager, who walked away with a 6-1 win. Naturally, the fans are worried about the club’s upcoming games. Especially the one against Paris Saint-Germain, which is another team who could hammer Solskjaer’s side. Manchester United have been been handed a massive advantage heading into the game though as Thomas Tuchel has admitted that a number of his players could miss the glamour tie. As reported by Goal, he said:

"“We have a bit of bad luck. Draxler and Marquinhos are doubtful for Manchester too. Colin Dagba had a positive [coronavirus test] with the U21s. In the event of a negative test, he can return to the group. “Kehrer is injured for a few weeks. Bernat and Icardi are injured, Icardi, a week ago. It’s the internal ligament in the knee, it’s not too serious but he will miss Nimes and Manchester.”"

They have a few more worries on their hands as well:

"“Today we have Danilo back, but he has been in contact with Cristiano Ronaldo, so the medical staff wish he did not train with the group. Verratti was injured with Italy, and is in contact with our doctor now. “We are missing too many players. It is the challenge now to find a starting XI able to win [against Nimes], because that is the best preparation for Manchester.”"

We do not want any player injured or unwell and wish all of them a quick recovery. It is undeniable though that this hands the Manchester United side a massive advantage going into the game. And while fans might not have a lot of hope at the moment, this Manchester United team does have a penchant for springing a surprise. Who can forget their 3-1 victory away in Paris during Solskjaer’s early days as the Red Devils manager. Nobody saw the result coming that day either. And who is to say that they cannot repeat that result this time around as well. Football is a funny game and things can change very quickly. Perhaps a win against PSG is exactly what this team needs to gain some momentum and kickstart their campaign.
