Manchester United have been dealt a double blow heading into their Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.

After a gap of one week caused by the congested international schedule, the Premier League will be back this weekend. Some teams will be looking to keep up their winning momentum, while Manchester United will be trying to get their vehicle back on track after what has not been a blissful start to the brand new campaign.

In their first three Premier League games, the Red Devils have lost two and one the other one by the skin of their teeth and in controversial fashion. Last week’s 6-1 defeat at the hands of Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur must have sent alarm bells blaring in the Old Trafford boardroom.

Although the result of the game was shambolic from United’s point of view, the dismissal of Anthony Martial after the Frenchman received a three-match domestic ban following a spat between him and Eric Lamela that ended up with the man in red being shown a red by Anthony Taylor, the match official.

Now, the prolific French forward will miss upcoming games against Newcastle, Chelsea, and Arsenal in succession, as confirmed by Manchester United official website.

Martial won’t be the only player to remain outside the matchday squad for the Red Devils though as deadline day signing Edinson Cavani will also be self-isolating at the time of the game against Newcastle United on Saturday night.

Manchester United signed the Uruguayan striker on the deadline day of the summer transfer window. As a result of him not being a part of the current Uruguay squad and also the fact that he was a free-agent when United secured his services, the former PSG No.9 will now have to self-isolate himself for a span of 14 days. However, it is expected that he would be available to play against his former side on October 21.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big dilemma to resolve, with three forwards in the form of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Odion Ighalo at his disposal.

After the Newcastle game, United will be facing Chelsea, Arsenal, and Everton in their next three Premier League fixtures. This hectic run of fixture could either make or break the momentum of what seems to be a long season for the Red Devils.
