Manchester United have found the new Jadon Sancho
After failing to sign the Borussia Dortmund star in the summer transfer window, Manchester United appear to have found the ‘new Jadon Sancho’.
It is no secret that Manchester United wanted to make Jadon Sancho their blockbuster signing of the season. But they failed to land the winger from Borussia Dortmund after the two clubs failed to reach an agreement over their transfer free. The Germans wanted €120 million while the Red Devils were willing to offer only upto €100 million. As a result, a move fell through.
It was a huge blow for the club’s plans for the season to say the least. It is hard not to see why somebody like Sancho would transform this team.
Since moving to the Bundesliga in 2017 from Manchester City for just £8 million, he has scored 35 goals and provided 45 assists in just 102 appearances. Those are staggering stats for anyone, forget the fact that he is still just 20.

Now though, Manchester United believe that they have the new Jadon Sancho at the club already in the form of 16-year-old Shola Shoretire. As reported by The Sun, higher ups at the club believe that he could be the answer to their problems out wide and his playing style has been compared to that of Jay-Jay Okocha. And the teenager has already signed a pre-contract to turn professional with the Red Devils.
Clearly the youngster has a lot of talent to receive such plaudits at this age. But the best thing right would be to not get too excited and not put the weight of expectations on Shoretire’s shoulders.
If he is good enough, he will get a chance in this Manchester United team. We have seen that with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Brandon Williams in recent years. It should be no different for Shoretire. But until then, let’s just give him the chance to go through the youth ranks.
He does not need to be new Jadon Sancho. All he needs to be is the first Shola Shoretire.
