Cavani names PSG star who told him to join Manchester United
Edinson Cavani has named the Paris Saint-Germain teammate who convinced him to join Manchester United on Deadline Day.
It is safe to say that this transfer window was a disappointing one for Manchester United. They failed to sign most of their targets and where left scrambling to sign players on Deadline Day who would have been well down their wishlist at the start of the window.
One player whose signing Manchester United fans should be genuinely excited about though is Edinson Cavani. The Uruguayan has been one of the premier goalscorers in Europe for over a decade now and it will be interesting to see how he performs in the Premier League.
Manchester United have one of their former players to thank though for convincing Cavani to move Old Trafford. And that man is none other than Ander Herrera.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the striker revealed:
"“I spoke with Ander a lot, as well as other teammates, like Angel Di Maria, who I was also with at Paris. It was genuinely getting to the last minute and I called Ander to have a chat.“I have a lot of admiration for Ander, for the kind of person he is, and so, yes, it’s true that after I’d finished talking with Ander we came to an agreement here with the club.“I hadn’t known Ander for too long but we formed and enjoyed a close friendship during that time at PSG and today we are still very good mates.”"

After scoring 104 goals for Napoli, Cavani moved to Paris Saint-Germain signed in 2013 for a £55 million transfer fee. He was well worth the money though as he managed to bag 200 goals for himself in his 7 years at the club despite being in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the first half his career in Paris.
As a result, there can be no doubt that he knows where the goal is. Yes, he is 33 years of age now but we have seen in recent years with the likes of Luis Suarez and the aforementioned Zlatan Ibrahimovic that elite strikers can continue to find the back of the net deep into their careers. And Cavani is certainly someone you would put in that bracket.
Let’s just hope that he takes to the Premier League like a duck to water. And if he does, Manchester United fans know now who to thank for convincing him to join the Red Devils.
