Reason why Dembele turned down Manchester United revealed

The reason behind Ousmane Dembele turning down a transfer move to Manchester United on Deadline Day has been revealed.

It had looked like Ousmane Dembele was destined for Manchester United as the clock ticked away on Deadline Day. The Red Devils had been handed a 6-1 defeat at home by Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur side the day before and needed to make a statement. Bringing the French youngster would have represented that.

The Frenchman has endured a terrible time since joining FC Barcelona in a big money move and right now finds himself well down the Barca pecking order. As a result, a move to Manchester United would have provided him the opportunity to bring his career back on track and re-establish himself as one of the top talents in the world.

But things did not turned out as expected as the winger ended up staying at the Spanish club. And it looks like that is because he is planning to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo in the near future.

As reported by Spanish outlet AS, Tot Costa de Catalunya Radio claims that Dembele has already held talks with Juventus regarding a move and has his heart set on joining the Turin side. And this appears to be the reason behind him not joining Manchester United on Deadline Day when he had the opportunity to do so.

The talent of Dembele has never been in question but the last few seasons, he has found himself brought down by continuous injuries. And it might be the physical nature of the Premier League which was another reason for him to not take the plunge.

It will be interesting to see how many chances he gets under Ronald Koeman this season. If he ends up spending most of it on the bench, then the Frenchman might rue not jumping at the chance to join the Red Devils.
