Manchester United target asked about his potential summer transfer
Plenty of summer business is still left for Manchester United.
The summer transfer window, for Manchester United, started with the aspiration that they would make some big acquisitions over this period of time. And with over one month already passed, United have garnered only one in the form of Donny van de Beek, a £40 million buy from AFC Ajax, who is believed to be playing as a cover for Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba the Old Trafford outfit next season.
United’s progress in the ongoing transfer window has been slower than a blind snail. The most sought-after transfer, from United’s perspective, would be that of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
Since the Mancunian club registered their Champions League berth by beating Leicester City in the Premier League on the final matchday of the last season, it has been widely reported that they are in talks with Dortmund. With over one and half months gone, the talks have not transformed into bid yet, as it has also been insisted that there are major issues to resolve first.

In the meantime, another rumour, particularly a big one, has appeared on the scene to excite the overambitious Red Devils’ fanbase. It is the name of Thiago Alcântara, believed to be the firm favourite to join Liverpool this summer, that has recently been linked with a summer move to the ‘Theater of Dreams’. There are also talks from United’s side of hijacking a deal.
However, the protagonist, Thiago, is understood to have not taken any firm decision on his future hitherto, as he currently is on the national duties with Spain, who drew their first UEFA Nations League group stage match against Germany last night.
The 29-year-old baller just finished his club duties with German giants Bayern Munich, having helped them attain a treble (Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and UEFA Champions League) in what was a breath-taking season for the Bavarians.
As mentioned before, Thiago, wearing the no.10 shirt, played full ninety minutes of awe-inspiring football and was one of the main reason behind Spain’s attacking flair that eventually led the side to their dying minute’s equaliser from Jose Gaya. The match ended with a 1-1 scoreline, thanks to some terrific saves from Spanish and United no. 1 David de Gea.
In the post-match interview, Thiago faced the question everybody interested in him would want him to be asked. In reply, Thiago calmly told:
"“I only think about the game against Ukraine. Afterwards, we will see. Bayern is my home and I am happy to be there.”"
Breaking the silence, when the interviewer passed the following question on his face ” So Liverpool or Manchester United?”, Thiago replied it with a slight grin on his face, “Ciao!”
Thiago, who is the subject of the £27m asking price in today’s market for Bayern Munich, walked off the scene with a jolly face. Despite having Fred and Scott McTominay for the role, Manchester United believe they need a cover for Matic. And signing the Spaniard would not only provide them with adequate balance but also add another world-class name to their roster.
Do you think there is any chance of Thiago joining Manchester United over Liverpool this summer?
