Manchester United superstar faces shock setback in pre-season plans
Manchester United fans have had experienced a torrid off-season so far.
Manchester United’s one of the most flamboyant figures Paul Pogba has been a trending topic across the globe of late — not for the vague criticism public and pundits have passed upon over the years, but for the colourful activities, from fancy hairstyles to those heart-warming messages that make him a symbol of integrity on the eyes of the modern generation, the French World Cup winner is busy doing when the football grounds are left abandoned due to the lack of liveliness.
Paul Pogba, now a global brand, was the one to move out of the red side of Manchester in 2012, only to earn himself a move back to Manchester in 2016 for what was a then world-record transfer fee of £89 million.
And after a number of spats between him and United’s former manager Jose Mourinho, the man who brought Pogba back to Manchester, speculations of him leaving the club again in this summer or maybe next, and countless critical views and allegations over his gameplay, we are seeing a Pogba enjoying his life at Manchester and his role on the field under the supervision of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer’s personal plea to Paul Pogba, following a damned end to the last season, might prove to be the No. 6 tying his long-term future at the Mancunian club. We need to wait and watch.
With Pogba missing almost half-of-the-season (he missed around 36 matches) last term with an ill-fated ankle injury, many within the ambitious fanbase would have imagined that they might have seen the last match of Paul Pogba in the United outfit.
But the intervention of coronavirus pandemic seemingly might have helped Pogba make a sharp contrast between his pre-pandemic and post-pandemic life and decide his future at his boyhood club. The picture regarding his future is expected to become clearer by the end of the summer transfer window as United are reportedly working on a contract renewal for the 27-year-old midfield maestro.
However, the club might have to delay that procedure for now, with Pogba surprisingly tested positive for coronavirus. And hence, he has missed out on his place in the French national squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League’s matches against Sweden and Croatia.
Confirming the news, France head coach Didier Deschamps opined:
"“I had to make a last-minute change to this list, because Paul Pogba was planned to be in this list but unfortunately for him, he took a test (for COVID-19) yesterday which turned out to be positive today, so at the last minute he was replaced by Eduardo Camavinga.”"
Paul Pogba now will be self-isolating himself for a period of the next ten days, and then he will be checked again. On the other hand, Manchester United will start their pre-season training at the Carrington Complex from 2nd September, two-and-a-half-week before their first Premier League game against Crystal Palace.
Do you think Manchester United will be able to sign players before they start their new Premier League campaign?
