Manchester United look to have secured their first target.

Earlier this season at Old Trafford as the Stretford End cheered and roared for Manchester United’s latest terrific trio, Greenwood, Martial and Rashford, a young man stood on the pitch in awe. The electric atmosphere. The special players. The pace of the game. It was everything he dreamt about. Still just 17 years of age, he had no look in helping Partizan to overturn the score, but the experience left an indelible impression.

The performance will have left an indelible mark on the Manchester United staff too. Filip Stevanovic was a lively presence in the second half and he impressed with his speed and control of the game. Having only just turned 17 it was clear that the Serbian had a special talent. He was one to keep an eye on.

Throughout the season Filip Stevanovic has grown in stature back in his homeland. He has become a pivotal clutch player for Partizan Belgrade. Possessing a venomous shot and a brilliant low centre of gravity.

Stevanovic has become revered in his homeland and is already being tipped to become one of the best players in Serbia’s history.

What has been especially impressive about the 17 year old is the level of maturity with which he plays. Filip Stevanovic is capable of making the right decisions in the final third. He can set his teammates up on platters and he knows when to dribble or make a pass. Even though he has the potential to dribble through the entire opposition, Filip Stevanovic is a team player and that will have attracted the United scouts.

Despite his small stature, he is extremely hard to knock off the ball too which would come in handy in the physically demanding Premier League.

And it seems as negotiations continue between the club and Partizan, Filip Stevanovic has all but confirmed his arrival at Old Trafford.

The Serbian wonderkid made this post on Instagram from his appearance at Old Trafford earlier on in the year with a cryptic caption.

This latest hint of Filip Stevanovic clearly confirms his desire to join the club and this deal can be assumed to be all but done.

The Serbian wonderkid has the potential to be as good of a signing as Cristiano Ronaldo. However he is not the first Serbian star to end up at Old Trafford. Back in Sir Alex Ferguson’s days the Red Devils signed Zoran Tosic and had Adem Ljajic at the club too for a brief period. The pair both arrived from Partizan and Stevanovic will be hoping he has better luck at Old Trafford than his previous compatriots.
