Manchester United are looking to move for a former target.

Those glory days . What a distant memory they are now. Sir Alex Ferguson and his beloved cohorts. How they would tear the opposition apart and bring back hoards of trophies to Old Trafford. Manchester United were invincible back then. They were the creme of the crop. The team to beat. The team to aspire towards.

Ferguson was ruthless. He demanded respect and he made his players into machines. The Scotsman had a knack for being able to bring the best out of people and in finding the right talent to develop.

Sadly not all of Sir Alex Ferguson’s desired targets made it to Old Trafford.

More from Red Devil Armada

You’ve probably heard of Douglas Costa. You’ve probably forgotten just how desperate Sir Alex Ferguson was to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

Back when Douglas Costa was at Shakhtar Donetsk United were perpetually linked with a move for the Brazilian winger but in the end nothing materialised. Douglas Costa ended up moving to Bayern Munich instead and then to Italy and Juventus.

His lightning quick speed and samba flair was never utilised at Old Trafford, Ferguson would rue the club’s failed efforts. However it seems that the Scotsman might get his wish a little belated.

According to the latest reports from TuttoSport via TeamTalk United have revived their interest in Douglas Costa and are considering making a move for the Brazilian international.

The Red Devils seem desperate to sign a winger this summer and they currently seem unlikely to land Jadon Sancho with Borussia Dortmund demanding a steep figure for their current star. Thus making a move for Douglas Costa who would offer a cheaper alternative option seems to make sense on paper.

The Brazilian has bags of pace which would be perfectly suited to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s style of play and he is determined to play too having been on the periphery of Juventus’ squad during the last few seasons.

His experience having continuously played in the Champions League and competed at major tournaments like the World Cup could be vital in relatively young dressing room.

Douglas Costa might not be the glamorous signing United fans have craved but it could be a smart one.

Would you be happy if Man United signed Douglas Costa?
