Manchester United make enquiry about perfect Bruno Fernandes back-up
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United have found the ideal candidate.
In the transfer window everything moves within a blink of an eye. In January, Manchester United went from pulling out of a deal for Bruno Fernandes to tie the Portugal international to a long term contract with the club in the space of just a few days.
Things happen rapidly. Clubs change their minds, negotiations lead to persuasions and previously untouchable stars become mere commodities in a perpetual merry go round.
In recent years, Ed Woodward has often been right in the very middle of all the nonsense shenanigans. The Red Devils chief has been criticised for his hasty decision making and his lack of cohesive strategy.

However it seems behind the scenes he has recently been aided by the arrival of United’d super Norwegian star.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a cult hero at Old Trafford. He is a true legend and a name that will forever be adored on the Stretford End. And if Solskjaer continues his heroics in the dugout at Old Trafford, he has the potential to become an even bigger legend.
The area in which the Red Devils have improved the most has undeniably been in the transfer strategy.
Solskjaer has opted to sign players with the right calibre for the club. Prior to his arrival, the Red Devils have often received criticism for their incomings. However now it has been the contrary. The likes of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Bruno Fernandes have all been smart transfers and have all played a key and exemplary role in United’s resurgence this season.
Of course, Solskjaer’s work is far from finished. The Norwegian aspires to take the Red Devils back to the very pinnacle of English and European football and for that he still needs more reinforcements.
It is not enough to have an outstanding starting eleven, Solskjaer will also need outstanding understudies.
One particular role which will be crucial is to find a back-up for Bruno Fernandes however, United may have found the perfect solution for that.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb via Sport Witness, the Red Devils have made an enquiry about AC Milan midfielder, Hakan Calhanoglu.
The Turkish international has been in stellar form since the beginning of 2020 and has been a revelation in a newly revived AC Milan side.
Just like Fernandes, Hakan Calhanoglu is exemplary at finding pockets of space in between the opposition’s midfield and defence and exploiting those areas to conjure up opportunities for his teammates.
Hakan Calhanoglu is also an astute free-kick taker.
If he was available on the cheap, it should be a no brainer for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Would you be happy with the arrival of Hakan Calhanoglu?
