Manchester United consider making substantial changes this summer.

It was the second Manchester derby of the 2019-20 season at Etihad Stadium. Manchester United were 1-0 up at that time and were looking favourites to nick another, having lost the first leg of the EFL Carabao Cup semi-final 3-1 to their noisy neighbours Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Man United, as a team, were more interested in hitting City on the break rather than donning the ball possession, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men keeping a firm shape at the back. Suddenly, a fuss from the away dugout saw a razor-sharp arrow containing exuberant words tore past the ears of a Manchester United player wearing the no. 14 shirt.

“One more time and you’re f**king off” — Ole Gunnar Solskjaer barked at Jesse Lingard, having seen the latter being bullied out of his acquired position. Since Lingard was at Manchester United’s youth setup, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, for being a former Manchester United player as well as an academy coach, has guided him and seen the blossoming talent within the English playmaker. Tough, the 2019-20 campaign has proved to be nothing less than a cursed campaign for the 27-year-old prodigy.

Having appeared on 22 occasions for Manchester United in the Premier League this season, Lingard amassed only one goal, or it would be better to say he was gifted the only goal by Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel on the final day of the league campaign.

However, with Jesse Lingard recently scoring the first goal for United against LASK Linz and helping the Mancunian club grab a 2-1 victory in the Europa League, he has now raised his tally to four goals and one assist from 38 appearances across all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskaer has shown tremendous faith in Lingard this season but has not got the end product in return, resulting in the semi-finalists of 2018 World Cup being excluded from Solskjaer’s main eleven.

Since Bruno Fernandes’ arrival in the January transfer window, Lingard has hardly got a start under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Lingard, on the other hand, changed his agent, hiring his teammate Paul Pogba’s representative Mino Raiola last January.

The change was dubious yet understandable, as many inside the club think Lingard could still form his career his in own way elsewhere — where he would get regular game-time. And one of the best in the business in Mino Raiola could obviously help him get a pleasing move.

According to a report from The Guardian, Manchester United have made it clear that they are ready to sell their homegrown talent in the upcoming summer transfer window, with an intention to summon some cash for further arrivals at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have already offloaded a massive burden in the form of Alexis Sanchez from their ranks. Furthermore, some veterans and unwanted ones are expected to be excluded from the wage bill before the end of the ongoing transfer period.

With Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Bruno Fernandes, and Paul Pogba already sealing the spot as United’s best five, it would not be a shock at all should Jesse Lingard consider making a lucrative move with the help his super-agent Mino Raiola this summer.
