Manchester United could move for Serie A star to replace David de Gea

David de Gea has been erratic this season for Manchester United.

Manchester United’s focus lies on their upcoming three games of the Europa League campaign as they have a golden opportunity to embellish their third-place finish in the league with a European title.

Enduring a turbulent start to the 2019/20 season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer managed a remarkable turnaround with a 14 game unbeaten run helping the Reds to secure a place only behind Liverpool and Manchester City.

Considering the stature of the club, the performances are nowhere near the standards usually associated with the club. With the summer transfer market in full swing, Manchester United need a few crucial acquisitions to elevate their levels, helping them to mount a serious challenge for Premier League accolade.

In addition to selling spree, the United hierarchy is working on a few budget transfers to bolster their squad options, generating interest in the likes of Donny van de Beek, Gabriel Magalhaes, and others.

On similar lines, Man United have unearthed another cheap alternative to refresh the goalkeeping department. With Sergio Romero considering Man United exit, Solskjaer is keen to reinforce his shot-stopping department as Dean Henderson is not yet touted as a personality who could bear the pressures of appearing between the sticks at Old Trafford.

As per reports from the Daily Star, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has sent scouts to monitor Napoli keeper Alex Meret. It has been learnt that Man United are keeping close tabs on the player considered as one of the brightest prospects in Europe.

Thus far, no concrete interest has been made as United work behind the scenes to sort out their goalkeeping department. It is understood that talks are ongoing with Dean Henderson over an improved deal with the club.

Sheffield United- Henderson’s homestay for past two seasons-have had their £12m bid for Bournemouth’s Aaron Ramsdale, as they prepare for next season citing uncertainty over Man United’s stance on the 23-year-old. The conclusion of the contract dialogues would provide a clear picture over Reds’ existing conundrum.
