Manchester United finally have got rid of the Chilean.

Manchester United and Arsenal have done a lot of business in terms of transfer dealings, and if everything goes well and the Sun keeps rising in the east, there would be exchanges of players between the Manchester-based and the London-based club again in the future.

However, it would be a bold claim to make whether fans of each side would love to see, yet again, a deal involving a swap between players, as it was the case in the January transfer window of 2018 when Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal, with United’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving the other way.

The deal is now considered one of the worst in Manchester United’s all-time history, if not the worst. Since making the move to Old Trafford, Alexis Sanchez, who was pocketing an eye-watering amount of £560k-per-week, made 45 appearances in total, having racked up only five goals and nine assists across all competitions.

Sanchez, who had amassed around 80 goals and 45 assists during his time at Emirates, was a shadow of himself in the Manchester United’s devoted no. 7 shirt.

Even though Jose Mourinho was the man to sign Sanchez from Arsenal, Sanchez’s struggles to find form continued when United authority made a managerial change, handing club’s former Norweigan striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the commanding job.

Under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Sanchez went on to make 15 appearances in all competitions, finding the net only once and providing only two assists, having garnered more criticism than plaudits in the process.

The shortage of suitors forced United to send Sanchez on loan to Inter Milan last summer, with Manchester United paying half of Sanchez’s humongous salary even when he was an Inter player on papers.

We don’t know whether it has been just about sheer luck or Sanchez started working harder, but he now has successfully revitalised his career at Milan, having produced four goals and 10 assists for Antonio Conte’s side.

Despite missing around 14 games, as per Transfermarkt, with Peroneus tendon injury at the start of the season, a brilliant run of form has seen Sanchez getting regular game-time — either as a starter or as a substitute. He has now turned into one of the main cogs for Conte’s Inter Milan.

Although there were some dark clouds over Sanchez’s future at Inter Milan during the January transfer window, it has now been confirmed that he will stay at the Italian club beyond the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Sanchez has completed his permanent move from Manchester United to Inter Milan. As reported by a very reliable journalist in Fabrizio Romano, Sanchez’s current deal, which will keep him at the club until 2023, would see him earn around €7 million-per-year.

The 31-year-old Chilean’s departure has undoubtedly provided Manchester United with a massive boost as they will not have to pay his salaries any longer.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wished him well after the last night’s Europa League 2-1 victory over LASK Linz, saying, “He [Alexis Sánchez] enjoyed his time there [Inter] and they have liked him so that’s a good move for him — he’s a top player, we want to see play his best football. For whatever reason we didn’t see the best of him, he’s a top professional.”

Alexis Sanchez guided his Inter side to the Europa League’s quarter-final with a 2-0 victory last night against Getafe. They could meet Manchester United in the Europa League final should both teams maintain their winning run to the final day of the season.
