The full-back has failed to convince the insiders at Manchester United.

With the transfer market opening on Monday, the onus shifts on Manchester United as a global fanbase anticipate a slew of exciting stories to keep themselves engaged with their beloved club. And, so far, they have not been disappointed.

Right from the start, a host of stories suggest that Man United have truly begun their pursuit of long-term target Jadon Sancho. With talks accelerating, the deal could be concluded in a curtailed timeline.

However, there are major plans to continue the rebuild which started last summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expects at least three arrivals from the market. After Sancho, the focus is set to shift towards the attacking department.

But, the proceedings are not going to be facile as the majority of footballing institutions are tottering amid a financial uncertainty due to the pandemic. Fortunately, Manchester United, due to their stable revenue model, currently, fly above the economic cloud battering other clubs.

Still, there is a prominent loss of funds by the Old Trafford outfit and they are keen to optimise their spends by sanctioning a string of sales to partially negate the transfer spending this summer.

As things stand, Manchester United are planning a major exodus with expected departures of eight or nine players should a suitable offer arrives at the club’s table, according to reports from Paul Hirst for The Times.

Diogo Dalot, one of the highly-rated members in the United squad, is considered to be on borrowed time on the club. As per reports from Mundo Deportivo via Manchester Evening News, Man United have offered the Portuguese full-back to Barcelona for a fee of just €17.4million.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, since his arrival from Crystal Palace last summer, has made the right-back spot his own, providing very few opportunities for Dalot to stake a claim at the starting spot. Now, the emergence of Ethan Laird has pushed the Portugal youth international further into oblivion.

The above report stands opposite to the previous developments where Barcelona expressed their desire to secure the services of Diogo Dalot from Man United. Previously, Paris Saint-Germain were among the suitors for the right-back where the price was quoted to be around €40m, a highly unlikely figure in the current economics.

Regardless of the magnitude of the parties involved in this deal, Man United would be eager to recoup at least £19million they spent to lure the defensive prospect from Porto in 2018. Earlier murmurs hinted towards interest from Marseille to attain the defender on a loan deal.

Barcelona, considering their current financial status, would find it difficult to match the figure mentioned in Spanish outlets. In a bid to balance their financial accounts, at best, the Catalan club is poised to offer players in a swap deal involving Dalot.

Citing the eagerness of Man United to sell the players surplus to the requirements, Diogo Dalot could be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, but the financial aspect remains to be the crucial factor for any interested club.
