Manchester United are keen to sign Borussia Dortmund mastermind

Manchester United could be aided by a new arrival.
Rumours about a director of football at Manchester United have been hither and thither over the last few seasons. Reports of potential appointments perpetually fall into oblivion before being reignited again. The list of candidates who were rumoured to have been approached for the job is endless, from former players like Rio Ferdinand and Edwin van der Sar to Antero Henrique.
One thing is for certain, structural change is necessary at Old Trafford. Ed Woodward has often been criticised for his inability to keep a cohesive united and to maintain order at the club. It is clear the United chief needs help and that he cannot do things alone.
While Woodward should be praised for the success of his January recruits, one must not overlook his failures over the last few years. From wrong appointments to not being able to secure the right calibre of players and overpaying wages to ageing stars.

United’s main issue has been their inability to convey a collective vision. There has been nothing enchanting about the club with the Red Devils continuing to stagnate since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
Without a Premier League title since 2013, United have not come any closer to lifting the coveted trophy this year.
While Solskjaer finally seems to have a clear vision, and the fans’ approval, a lot of work still needs to be done in order to breach the gap with Liverpool and Manchester City. Especially now that Chelsea have commenced an aggressive recruitment policy in the transfer window this summer and look likely to pip United in the coming season.
Perhaps it is for those pressing reasons that The Athletic via the Daily Express is reporting that United are once again looking to pursue a director of football to take charge at the club and help the Red Devils secure the necessary signings they need.
One of the names linked with the job is Borussia Dortmund chief Michael Zorc with the report claiming Ed Woodward could approach him this summer.
Michael Zorc has a revered reputation around Europe. Borussia Dortmund have often had tight budgets, but the German has found a knack for attracting elite talent to the Signal Iduna Park and perpetually replenishing the Dortmund squad.
At United the lure of working with more financial means could be an attractive one to Michael Zorc.
With his accomplished background United fans would no doubt welcome the move.
