Manchester United continues to rebuild from top to bottom.

The memories might have become blurred and obscure to some but still possess the cruelty that can traumatize the whole Manchester United fanbase even after nine long-lasting years.

Manchester United could have had 14 Premier League titles in their cabinet had not that ominous dying minutes seen Sergio Aguero clinching a winner in a dramatic 3-2 victory against a weirdly lacklustre Queens Park Rangers and helped the blue Mancunian club ensure the first taste of glory in the form of the English league title since 1968 in the final day of the 2011-12 campaign.

Manchester is a city of spiritual people with rich traditions, illustrious history and several notable political agendas — and most importantly, the one that describes the long-lived rivalry between Manchester United and Manchester City.

While Manchester United, undoubtedly, have had been a dominative force in the contest for decades, a £210 million takeover by Abu Dhabi United Group, an investment agency owned by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan, the brother of the ruler of the United Arab Emirates, in 2008 has made Manchester City so well-equipped that what was the one and only Premier League title for the Cityzens back in 2011-12 has now become four ( 2018/19, 2017/18, 2013/14, and 2011/12) in total.

Over the last decade, Manchester United, it can be said, have got dominated by their city rivals. Manchester United versus Manchester City has turned out to be a grand affair for not only the fans live in Manchester but worldwide.

They, the fans, don’t think twice before cheering for their favourites or jeering at the opponents. The possibilities have always been very rare of seeing the Manchester clubs being heavily involved in transfer dealings with each other — unless there are some extreme circumstances.

The latter was the case for Carlos Tevez, who chose to join Manchester City from Manchester United for £47 million in 2009.

Players of both clubs are aware of what could happen if they make the switch from one end to another, as Carlos Tevez knows — he had to face excessive criticism for moving to Man City in the following year of the takeover.

In an interview, Carlos Tevez admitted what had happened when he had visited Old Trafford, wearing the jersey of the wrong Manchester side, saying:

"“I must admit I did believe I would get a different reception from the United supporters. Initially everything was positive and I was greeted by my former team-mates and United staff without any problems at all.“But as soon as I entered the field the atmosphere was very different. It was hard to take because previously I was always wanted by those people.”"

This time, United might be in the receiving end as the Red Devils are reportedly ‘confident’ of securing a deal for Manchester City’s wonderkid Charlie McNeill, a story from Daily Mail understands.

A striker by trade, McNeill has had built a solid reputation while operating the line for Man City’s youth teams. The 16-year-old is believed to be a Manchester United supporter, who spent his childhood days playing in Man United academy before joining Man City academy in 2014.

McNeill, who was understandably given his first professional contract at the Etihad Stadium, is set to leave the club after denying to put pen to paper, bestowing a farewell message on his social media handle that reads:

"‘A massive thank you to Man City for everything over the past six years.”‘It’s been such a pleasure to play with some amazing players and I’ve made some amazing friends too. Thanks to all the staff and players for helping me develop as a player and also as a person. I wish everyone the very best.’"

Besides Manchester United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and newly-promoted side Leeds United, led by a legendary figure in Marcelo Bielsa, have shown their interest in making a move for the youngster, who has the record of scoring over 600 goals in his academy career till date.

Under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskajer, besides making the first-team powerful, the authority of the red Mancunian club has made up their mind to add more influential prodigies to their youth set up.

New recruits such as Real Madrid’s Alvaro Fernandez (left-back) and Marc Jurado (right-back) have already added some extra flesh to the club’s prospect of making a team for the future. As things stand, the addition of Charlie McNeill might work as a catalyst in what could be a fiery youth team next season.
