Manchester United could be a goalkeeper short.
One of the loneliest jobs in football must be that of the goalkeeping understudy. It is a role where you spend most of your time with your buttocks firmly planted on the bench and rarely get to taste action on the pitch. When you do it’s usually because of a crisis at the club. Manchester United’s Sergio Romero can fathom the struggle.
The Argentine has been at the club since 2015 but has made just a handful of appearances in the Premier League. Stuck in the pecking order behind an often outstanding David de Gea, opportunities have been scarce for the Argentine.
However in the current season, it is hard to see why Romero hasn’t been given an opportunity to shine. United’s out of form number one has made some major blunders throughout the course of the campaign and it could have benefited David de Gea to give him some respite from the limelight.

Sergio Romero who has made 15 appearances this season and has had 11 cleansheets in the process must be scratching his head as to why he hasn’t been given a proper chance. The Argentine has been in stupendous form and has earned rave reviews from the club’s supporters. He has often been described as the best number two in the world.
The title is not wrong, Sergio Romero is an accomplished goalkeeper and he can be a stalwart figure in between the sticks.
Solskjaer is blessed to have him in the team. However it seems the Norwegian could soon lose the Argentine.
According to the Metro via the Daily Mirror, Sergio Romero is considering his future at the club and Argentine outlet TyC Sports via TeamTalk has even linked him with a move to club rival’s Leeds United.
The report hints that Sergio Romero is growing frustrated by the lack of opportunities at the club and the Argentine is looking to seek a new challenge.
While the fans will be sad to see him go, Romero would have also had to contend with Dean Henderson next season who could be returning to Old Trafford after a breathtaking Premier League season with Sheffield United, therefore a move away from the club would be understandable.
Do you think United should allow Sergio Romero to leave?
