Manchester United: The perfect de Gea replacement finally wants to leave
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United have been given a boost.
For almost a decade the spindly Spaniard guarded the Manchester United goal. His long arms tethered around the ball perpetually. It was inconceivable to find a way to elude him. David de Gea always conquered and he always prevented the ball from finding a way past him. He was the master of clean-sheets.
His acrobatic prances in between the sticks made the Stretford End purr. United fans could sleep assured prior to every game. His reliability could be counted upon.
Yet precisely two years ago, the Spaniard made an out of character blunder at the World Cup. The scrutinised error seemed to wilt his confidence. He came back to Old Trafford as a different man. David de Gea no longer stood as tall, his chest no longer jutted out, instead his head planted towards the floor and his spindly gait was hunched and ungainly.

Errors and mistakes have been a common occurrence ever since and David de Gea’s confidence continues to plummet towards a never-ending abyss.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not have a short fuse, but even his patience must run out at some point and the Norwegian has a tough decision to make this summer. It is a decision which could be further compounded by the latest reports emerging from Spain.
Jan Oblak currently plies his trade for David de Gea’s former club Atletico Madrid. The Slovenian international is widely regarded as one of the best and most reliable goalkeepers in the world. His valiant efforts were crucial in helping Atletico knockout holders Liverpool in the Champions League this season.
The Slovenian is a formidable player and according to the latest reports by the Daily Mail via the Daily Express, Jan Oblak is considering his future in Madrid. The report claims that Oblak is discouraged by the club’s lack of ambition which has made him consider his options and contemplate a potential move away from the club.
That could be music to United’s ears, the Red Devils would reportedly be interested in Jan Oblak who could be the perfect replacement for David de Gea.
Of course, Solskjaer faces a tough decision. David de Gea has been an excellent servant at Old Trafford, Jan Oblak would be a costly addition, however with the Spaniard’s form not improving, the Norwegian might just have to make a move.
Do you think United should replace de Gea with Jan Oblak?
