Manchester United ‘closely watching’ Paris Saint-Germain midfielder
Manchester United need new dimensions for their midfield.
After a disappointing exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Chelsea, lack of physical aggression in United’s engine room was evident during a tumultuous duration of the game. The Blues, with their calculated and coordinated pressing, were able to bypass Red Devil’s midfield which failed to withhold duels,
Despite the requirement, unfortunately, Man United are yet to allot significant funds for the recruitment in central midfield, considering the tight finances in the current economic climate, and upscale funds sided for the signing of Jadon Sancho.

Though, to address the needs of Red’s engine room, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his transfer advisory are working on several economic options available in the summer transfer market. Recently, citing a utility midfielder in Spain, Manchester United have been linked with Valencia man Geoffrey Kondogbia.
On similar lines, a report emerging from France have suggested another possible enquiry from Red Devils for a midfielder from Paris Saint-Germain, Idrissa Gueye. As per Le10 Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United have investigated the possibility of the Senegal international being available this summer.
Being a valuable asset for Tomas Tuchel in the 2019/20 campaign, Gueye established himself as a mainstay in PSG’s midfield alongside Marco Verattii. Also, the Senegalese, 30, doesn’t align with Solskjaer’s preferred age for recruiting a player.
But, there is an interesting catch which could prove to be a decisive factor. During the last summer, when Ander Herrera left Old Trafford after seeing out his contract, Idrissa Gueye was termed as the direct replacement for the departing Spaniard. Though, Senegal international chose PSG over Man United.
Now, Les Rouge et Bleus’ sporting director Leonardo is prepared to cut loose several of his superstars to accommodate fresh arrivals as the French giants seek to construct a squad capable of dominating European circuit. Ander Herrera and Julain Draxler are on the selling list.
Alongside the aforementioned players, the PSG bosses are ready to offload Gueye, even after a successful debut campaign, should a feasible offer arrives in the summer. Currently, Man United have made an inquiry regarding Gueye’s current situation at the French club.
There is no establishment of dialogues between the clubs, thus far. Signing the Senegalese for a fee of £29m, PSG would expect at least 50% of what they paid to Everton for Gueye’s signature.
