Manchester United star desperate to train with another club
Manchester United could lose this defender.
Manchester United, as a football club, have always had attracted attention from all over the globe with their rich history, playing style, glory hunting mentality, and tendency to seize more and more titles.
Every youth footballer dreams of playing under the floodlight of ‘The Theater of Dreams’ one day, so was the case for the Argentine left-footed centre-back, Marcos Rojo.
His journey from La Plata’s Estudiantes to Spartak Moscow to Sporting CP and finally to Manchester United was certainly looking like a fairytale that seemed predestined for the hardworking prodigy.
A €20 million (£16 million) transfer fee with Nani moving back to his homeland was enough to lure Marcos Rojo from Lisbon at Old Trafford in the year 2014. Louis van Gaal welcomed the Argentine fanboy with open arms, suggesting “Marcos is a very gifted defender. He can play either as a central defender or left-back.”

Rojo, on the other hand, was looking very happy too as he went on to claim that it was his boyhood dream to play for the illustrious club. At that moment, his eyes were glittering in somewhat overwhelming amusement and unexpected astonishment.
However, reality soon came to maltreat his desire to be a long-term United servant. United faithful wanted consistency in performance from their new signing — something that has never had been a strong point of Marcos Rojo —neither in as a centre-back nor as a left-back.
After giving the red side of Manchester six precious years of his career, a number of unwanted events — from making needless tackles on the training ground to getting involved in several dressing room rows with teammates — saw him finally being loaned out to his childhood club Estudiantes last January.
And there is a general feeling inside the Mancunian club that Rojo might have played his last game for the Red Devils and might not return to Manchester again.
Marcos Rojo, who also wants to stay put at his former club, is yet to leave Argentina following the expiration of his loan deal with Estudiantes last June. a report from Argentine outlet El Día suggests that talks between Rojo’s agent and Manchester United have currently been going on to extend the player’s stay at his home club.
Having made only one appearance for the Argentine top division side since moving away from Old Trafford, Marcos Rojo has already made it clear that he wants to extend his stay at Estudiantes until the end of the year. But, he needs United’s permission to do so.
United want to offload Rojo from their ranks permanently in order to create space for the new arrivals. Should talks go in the right direction, it is believed that a deal would soon be struck between the two clubs.
Manchester United back-line have had showed concerning factors in regard to their defensive solidity. The defensive partnership of Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof has allowed some very clumsy goals to annoy their manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And there are stories of Man United going after a new centre-back this summer. Only time will tell how Solskjaer and co will alter their defence and offence in the same transfer window, especially when clubs are dealing with the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Who do you think would be a perfect defensive signing for United in this upcoming summer transfer window?
