Manchester United sign the ‘next Haaland’ who almost signed for Liverpool
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United are about to have a new arrival.
The Scandinavian country of Norway has always been a breeding ground for Manchester United. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer alongside his compatriot Ronny Johnsen were the first to arrive at Old Trafford.
Their career with the Red Devils was a long and prosperous one. Together the pair of them made over 500 appearances for the club and helped to contribute with a total of 135 goals. Solskjaer scored the vast majority of those goals and a year later the arrival of Henning Berg from Norway would be another welcome addition.
In the late 1990s Manchester United thrived with its Norwegian recruits. The club now shares a special relationship with the nation as a result and the vast majority of the country are avid supporters of the club.

Solskjaer is at the helm at Old Trafford now, and while he has not been able to recruit a fellow countryman, it has not been for a lack of trying.
In the January transfer window, Solskjaer was linked with a move for Erling Braut Haland which seemed to collapse in the last minute as well as a late transfer for Joshua King on deadline day.
There has also been some strenuous links with Martin Odegaard but nothing of substance seems to have materialised from that.
Nonetheless it seems, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first Norwegian recruit will not be a renowned name or an established international but rather a young wonderkid with ample potential.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils have signed Isak Hansen-Aaroen from Tromso.
The 15 year old agreed to the transfer last summer, however he has had to wait to come to Old Trafford until his 16th birthday which will take place next month. Regarded as one of the exceptional talents in his homeland, Isak Hansen-Aaroen has already made his first team debut for Tromso in Norway’s top flight.
The forward is quick and technically astute and has spent several trial periods with Liverpool before rebuffing the Merseysiders in favour of a switch to United.
Isak Hansen-Aaroen already has three goals in three games for Norway’s U16 side and there will be inevitable comparisons to Erling Braut Haland.
Only time will tell whether Isak Hansen-Aaroen can emulate his fellow countryman but he is undoubtedly at the right place to hone his skills and develop his game. The fact that he will have Solskjaer in the first team to help him settle will be a major boost.
Are you excited to see Isak Hansen-Aaroen in a United shirt?
