Manchester United could finally see this star leave.

As the new year was heralded in 2018, it seemed like the dawn of a new era at Old Trafford. Merely a few weeks into the new year, Manchester United had lured a true diamond to the club. Alexis Sanchez announced his arrival with an eloquent musical waltz on a grand piano. The Chilean grinned towards the camera in a gesture which oozed confidence. His eyes glinted in a glare of determination.

Alexis Sanchez had come to help the Red Devils ascend back to the pinnacle of English football. The former Arsenal star had rejected the advances of the club’s arch rivals, Manchester City, and chose United. It was a demonstration of the club’s pulling power and a show of their statement of intent.

At the time, Alexis Sanchez was without a doubt one of the best players in the Premier League. His ability to slalom past defences with ease, his tenacious style and venomous shot made him a defenders nightmare.

More from Red Devil Armada

A prolific goalscorer with dazzling feet and rippling thighs that made him impossible to stop for defenders, Alexis Sanchez seemed like the long awaited replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo at Old Trafford. Given the number seven shirt, it seemed United had at last found their man. The void would be filled.

Of course, football is not a simple game.

Players dwindle in form and can sometimes struggle. For Sanchez, life at United never seemed to suit his style. The Chilean was half the player in a Red Devils shirt than he was at Arsenal.

In a rigid Mourinho system, Sanchez struggled to spark to life. At Arsenal he had the freedom to roam forward whenever he wished and he’d play as the beacon of the side. At United, the Chilean was required to track back more often with Mourinho’s team concentrated on defending.

The lack of free-flowing football would be a detriment to Sanchez. Even upon Mourinho’s departure he struggled to regain his prior form.

Now on loan at Inter Milan, Man United are desperate to offload his services. With Alexis Sanchez on steep wages, the Red Devils simply cannot afford to keep a squad player of his ilk at the club in the current financial market.

And it seems, United could finally be receiving positive news regarding Sanchez on that front.

According to Gazzette Dello Sport via Sport Witness, Inter Milan are determined to sort out a deal for Sanchez within the next 20 days.

Alexis Sanchez’s departure could free-up precious resources and help fund important transfers this summer.
