Manchester United have a new arrival.
On Thursday evening, under the floodlights at Selhurst Park, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sighed a breath of relief. The Red Devils had secured yet another victory in a ferocious battle. At the same time, the Manchester United boss must have buzzing with excitement.
In the evening news broke of a new arrival at Old Trafford from a prestigious club. According to the Evening Standard United have secured the services of Real Madrid full-back Alvaro Fernandez who will sign a four year contract with the club.
Yes Alvaro Fernandez will not be renowned name in world football. The 17 year old has yet to make a first team appearance in Zinedine Zidane‘s first team, however the young full-back was highly regarded in the Spanish capital.

With his long shaggy hair, Alvaro Fernandez has even drawn comparisons to Sergio Ramos but has been described as a player who models his game on Marcelo.
With Real Madrid’s current left-back already 32 years of age, Alvaro Fernandez would surely have been the next in line to inherit the Brazilian’s throne in Madrid.
Yet now United have swooped in to prize him away from Zidane’s grasp and the youngster will continue his development at Old Trafford.
It is a bold move by Alvaro Hernandez considering Brandon Williams is only a couple of years older than the Spanish full-back, and he looks like a mainstay in the current Man United line-up.
Nonetheless, United have a strong reputation for developing elite talent. It is a tradition which stems all the way back to the 1950s under Sir Matt Busby’s pioneering tenure.
Solskjaer is the latest United boss who is looking to continue the tradition. The Norwegian boss recruited some exciting academy talent last year, and this year he has already landed Marc Jurado from Barcelona.
It looks like the club’s academy will have two Spanish defenders bolstering their squad next season.
One will hope, that the pair of them will fair better than the previous defender who was under United’s employ in Gerard Pique. While the current Barcelona star may have hit huge heights with the Catalans, at United Pique struggled to break into the first team and was never able to make a mark.
Do you think Alvaro Fernandez is a good signing for Man United?
