Manchester United need more than one signing in the upcoming summer.

His darting runs down the green turf of ‘The Theater of Dreams’ were one of many charming things United would offer to excite its devotees, making both the home and away stand shiver in different axioms — rightly so because he was a reason of terror for the away fans and a substance to fill the chasm of appetite for the home supporters.

Not only was he good at escaping the tallest and the muscular defenders with utter comfort, but he was one of the many reasons why that Manchester United side had remained successful for such a long time.

He was none other than Ryan Giggs — a pivotal Mancunian cog in Sir Alex Ferguson’s class of ’92 and the 1998-99 side that went on to win a treble (UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, and Premier League), a feat that has not been matched by any other English team till date.

He is one of the brightest academy prospects who, following his promotion from United’s youth ranks, went on to win almost everything in the prestigious red shirt of Manchester.

Giggs was there inside the studio, watching United tussling with Crystal Palace to keep their hope alive for the devoted fourth-place finish, a guaranteed ticket for next season’s Champions League football.

Although it was not that sort of performance United had been providing since the resumption of the Premier League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men somehow managed to get the job done, winning the game 2-0 in a hard-fought way, thanks to sheer luck and the goals from Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

However, while discussing the match afterwards, Ryan Giggs was the first to mention this United side need to make at least two to three new signings to compete for the title alongside Manchester City and Liverpool, heaping plaudits on Solskjaer for what he has done since taking over the job.

Speaking to Premier League Productions (via Express Sport), the former Manchester United winger claimed:

"“I still think we’re off City and Liverpool by two or three players.”“But Ole has done really really well in the two transfer windows he’s had.“Good characters are coming in. You see Fernandes, he looks like a leader, he looks like a character. Maguire, he’s their captain.“It’s not just about having the players, it’s about having that culture, that character that can improve not only the starting XI but the squad and the overall feeling around the club.“They’re certainly moving in the right direction.“But, I still believe we need three new players.”"

Manchester United will play West Ham United in the last home-match of 2019-20 season, before travelling to King Power to face Leicester City to conclude the drama of 38 gameweeks for the time being.

Do you think Manchester United will finish above Chelsea in the Premier League points table?
