Manchester United’s ‘important proposal’ denied by youngster
Manchester United are in for another wonderkid.
It was the time of the winter transfer window, and everyone surrounding the red side of Manchester was overwhelmed by the fact that one of Europe hottest prospects in Erling Braut Håland was on his way to ‘The Theater of Dreams’.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was continually asked about the potential arrival of his former protegé, mentioning how good the striker was under the guidance of the Norweigan during his days at Molde FK.
However, the reality came harsh on the Mancunian club as Håland chose to tie his future to the German side Borussia Dortmund, making a £17.1 million move from Austrian club RB Salzburg last January.

It is still unclear whether the German side had presented him with a more viable deal or it was the cajoling words of his agent Mino Raiola that had made him snub his former mentor, who is currently on a tricky mission of taking the Manchester-based club to the pinnacle of European football.
It might be unusual to some, but it has not been the first example of Dortmund snatching an up-and-coming talent from United’s grip.
Jude Bellingham, an aspiring superstar midfielder from Birmingham City Football Club academy, was reportedly close to joining United. Even Bellingham and his family members were in Manchester United’s AON training complex last March to observe what the club offers to its young prospects.
Back to the current situation, Bellingham’s summer departure from Birmingham City seems imminent — not for Manchester United but for Borussia Dortmund. As per the reports from Germany, Bellingham is going to sign a 5-year contract with Dortmund as a result of what would be a reported £25 million move from the English club.
According to a recent report from Spanish outlet AS (via Sportswitness), Atletico Madrid starlet Marcos Denia has penned a further 3-year contract, dismissing numerous interests from around Europe, which also includes that of Manchester United.
Manchester United was believed to have ‘sent an important proposal’ to the prodigy’s agent, Juanma López. Besides United, Villarreal and a few Premier League club was reportedly interest to lure the 16-year-old youngster.
A centre-forward by trade, Denia had recoded one goal per game prior to the suspension of the league for Atlético’s Cadet A side. Atletico were desperate to keep Denia under their ranks and hence did everything to convince him to stay put at the capital.
With Manchester United’s academy graduates in Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Brandon Williams keeping the red flag high in the sky and some others getting ready to thrive in the senior team next season, the Red Devils don’t have much to worry about at the moment.
However, the way they have been snubbed by the emerging talents over the last few months certainly gives Solskjaer an area to think about during his free time.
Do you think Manchester United need to sign a striker in the upcoming summer transfer window?
