Manchester United’s Premier League rivals wanted Mason Greenwood
By Bence Bocsak
Manchester United had interest in their teenage star.
Old Trafford are not unaccustomed to teenage sensations. Throughout Manchester United’s rich history a plethora of exciting teenage talents have emerged to set the Stretford End alight in almost every decade. From Duncan Edwards, George Best, to Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Marcus Rashford as well as the likes of Federico Macheda or Adnan Januzaj. However perhaps none have been as exciting as Mason Greenwood.
The emergence of the 18 year old star has been a real revelation at Old Trafford. The young forward has demonstrated talent that is simply breathtaking and Mason Greenwood has set the ceiling as his limit.
Possessing rapid pace and nifty footwork which helps him to slalom past defenders with ease, Greenwood’s most menacing attribute is his lethal ability to strike a venomous shot on goal with either foot.

His two-footedness makes him a goalkeeper and defenders nightmare. Mason Greenwood is unpredictable and he has been able to use this to his benefit. His 16 goals in 46 Man United appearances this season is an impressive tally for someone so young and one that has created a major hype surrounding the young star.
However his season could have gone differently.
According to Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson via the Daily Express, Crystal Palace enquired about Mason Greenwood’s services at the start of the season, but United rejected the London based outfit’s advances.
The fact that Solskjaer was determined to keep him at the club shows just how highly Mason Greenwood was valued even prior to him making an impact in the first team.
The Norwegian manager’s faith paid off in the end. Greenwood is now regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in the world. He has been labelled as one of the potential stars to take on the baton from Ronaldo and Messi.
Such praise is perhaps somewhat premature, however, if Mason Greenwood can continue his excellent momentum and further hone his skills, he could well be on that path.
In the 2000s, Mason Greenwood certainly seems like the most exciting Man United youth product to break into the first team. Perhaps the only player who can compare is Wayne Rooney and he went onto enjoy a prosperous career.
How good do you think Mason Greenwood will become?
