Manchester United: Cristiano Ronaldo spoke to Solskjaer about transfer
By Bence Bocsak
The Manchester United boss held talks with the former Red Devils star.
For half a decade Old Trafford shimmered and glittered in a serendipitous waltz. Cristiano Ronaldo was a player unlike any other at Manchester United. He twirled round defenders in galloping runs and unleashed shots of utter venom. He was a hero. Adored by the Stretford End and destined for the pinnacle of the game.
His smile was infectious on the field, but his steely glare was an even bigger indication of his winning mentality. The Portuguese star had the utmost hunger to succeed and he would give it his all every time he donned the Red Devils shirt.
He worked perpetually on the training ground to hone his skills and to build his muscles. His hard-work would pay dividends. In his penultimate season he finished the Premier League campaign as top-goalscorer with 31 goals.

Ultimately Real Madrid lured his talent away from Old Trafford, yet his aura still lingers on the field. A yearning for someone of Cristiano Ronaldo’s ilk to come to Old Trafford still remains. Every year there are rumours that the now 35 year old winger has set his sights on a return to United.
However, in the current state of affairs that seems unlikely. Nonetheless, Cristiano Ronaldo may have aided his former club with a recent small hand in a certain January transfer.
Current Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer whilst speaking to the High Performance Podcast via the Daily Express, revealed he spoke to Cristiano Ronaldo to get the Portuguese’s advice about Bruno Fernandes prior to United’s new signing arriving at Old Trafford.
The Norwegian said the following.
"“We’ve got the chief scouts who do all the scouting, we’ve got the analysts who analyse and break everything down to a minutest detail. But you can see that with your eye really what talent and quality you’ve got. So obviously Cristiano was an easy goal for me. I managed to get through Patrice Evra, I managed to get hold of Cristiano and his recommendation obviously stands him [Fernandes] in good stead.”"
Undoubtedly, Cristiano Ronaldo spoke highly of the Portuguese midfielder and it seems the Juventus star’s recommendation has paid dividends so far with Bruno Fernandes having enjoyed a stellar first campaign at Old Trafford.
Of course, the fact that Solskjaer has kept in touch with Cristiano Ronaldo will no doubt ignite rumours about a potential return to Old Trafford but a deal is unlikely to happen in the current financial climate.
With United focused on building for the future it is hard to see where Ronaldo would fit in. However it is touching to see that the Portuguese still keeps a good relationship with his former employers.
