Manchester United are desperate to sign a right-winger this summer.

Amid Manchester United’s blistering run of form and contention for two competitions, the upper echelons of the club are finalising their objectives ahead of the impending transfer window. In the priority list of recruitment, right-sided forward finds itself at the top.

Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival at the Old Trafford, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have been considered as a vital piece of his attacking setup- which lacks expertise on the right-wing. To reinforce that position, the Norwegian has tracked former Man City prospect Jadon Sancho.

In his two full seasons at Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho has elevated his status to one of the most promising youngsters in world football. Statistics wise, the 20-year-old has managed 33 goals and 39 assists since the start of the 2018/19 campaign.

During his stay at the German club, the Englishman has been linked with a host of European heavyweights- Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid at several junctures.

Among the aforementioned clubs, Manchester United have reached the closest for the services of Jadon Sancho. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer envisages the Dortmund’s number seven as the vital part of his rebuild project.

However, the sudden impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused United bosses to analyse the transfer market before offering a financial package which suits Dortmund, despite Red Devils well-documented financial clout.

In the current economic climate, even the financial top dogs are measuring their strides before making the next step. Despite a financial hit, Manchester United, still are well-placed to spend big this summer, if needed.

Ed Woodward is aware of how much Solskjaer reveres Sancho and is fully committed to land the English superstar this summer. However, there is a consensus among the insiders that financial complications could scupper the deal.

As per reports emerging from Italy, Manchester United have placed their interest in signing Federico Chiesa this summer. It is believed that the Italian youngster is happy at Fiorentina but could weigh his future should an attractive offer is presented to him.

Previously, Inter Milan were among the potential suitors for Federico Chiesa but Achraf Hakimi’s arrival has subsided the need to reinforce their right side further. Juventus, too, have inquired about the Genoa-born winger.

Currently, Chiesa is happy in his homeland and does not seek a move to England- a potential sticking point for Manchester United.

There have been multiple stories which have provided their take on Chiesa’s situation. Firstly, Gazetta Dello Sport(via Sport Witness) suggested that Ed Woodward has already offered 60 million Euros for the player. However, Fiorentina’s valuation of the Italy international stands at €70m.

In addition, the developments hint towards extra efforts that would be needed to convince the talented forward to pursue a sporting project outside Italy.

Notwithstanding these stories, Jadon Sancho remains is a priority for Manchester United this summer and Federico Chiesa is a fallback option should a dramatic set of events thwart the negotiations with Dortmund.
