Manchester United to pull out of a deal for Premier League star in shock move
The drop in revenue will shorten Manchester United’s transfer means.
He was happy, grinning, holding a mic in front of his lips. The date was June 16, 2019. One of the biggest names in the footballing world, Paul Pogba, was present in a publicity event in Tokyo, Japan. Manchester United had just wrapped up another torrid season, finishing the Premier League campaign outside the top four with 66 points.
What had been a jolly few months in the camp following the return of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to ‘The Theater of Dreams’ soon turned into an unpleasant realm in the wake of some underwhelming results — which also included a 4–0 away defeat to Everton.
Everyone — including Manchester United devotees — expected the much-needed optimism ahead of a new 2019-20 campaign from Paul Pogba, who was about to serve a speech in front of a mass gathering.

But, ignoring all the excitement, Pogba came up with a strange quote which reads,
"“I think for me it can be a good time to have a new challenge somewhere else.”"
A transfer that saw United spending the club record transfer fee of €105 million (£89.3 million) was about to dissipate. Real Madrid was his desired destination back then.
However, the reasons why Pogba decided to stay put at the Mancunian club are still unknown — whether it was the aftermath of Solskjaer’s plea or Real Madrid’s inability to pay United’s huge asking price for Pogba after spending all their allotted cash on the arrival of Eden Hazard from Chelsea.
Back to the current time, having recovered from a long-term knee injury and missed 37 games, according to Transfermarkt, this season for the Red Devils, Paul Pogba is happy again both on and off the field, as his recent activities on social media suggest.
He is delighted about the idea of playing alongside United’s January signing Bruno Fernandes, who has rapidly changed the whole dynamism of the team since moving to United from Sporting CP for an initial transfer fee of €55 million.
The duo of Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, with a defensive midfielder in Nemanja Matic sitting behind, have clicked so well that United chief Ed Woodward is reportedly considering the prospect of pulling out of the race for highly-touted summer transfer target.
According to the reports from The Telegraph (subscription required), Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is satisfied with his current midfield options. And there is an uprising possibility of moving out of a deal for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, who has recently been linked with a summer move to Manchester City.
Grealish has been on United’s radar for a while now, having ostensibly impressed Solskjaer with his leadership qualities and on-filed traits. However, amidst the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, authorities are considering the option to spend that Jack Grealish-money money on a centre-back and a striker.
A report, written by Manchester United correspondent for The Athletic, Laurie Whitwell, also suggests something similar.
Nevertheless, it has also been claimed that Jack Grealish, who has scored seven goals and produced six assists from 31 Premier League appearances in a relegation-threatened Aston Villa side, could add that required depth to the creative department of the team.
It remains to be seen how the story develops in the upcoming weeks, with Manchester United evidently sensing the dark side of the ongoing pandemic.
Do you think Manchester United will sign Grealish this summer?
