Manchester United could have a huge opportunity.

They are a wizard on the pitch. They wield their feet like a wand. They dart through thickets of defenders in their myriads. No matter how many shroud their way, they have the ability to slalom past them. Players like them are rare. Though at Old Trafford there have always been stars of similar ilk on the flanks. Ever since the days of Sir Matt Busby, the club has seen a plethora of individuals who have the ability to make Manchester United fans awe and stand mesmerised by their talent.

Only in the past decade, upon the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, has the absence of such remarkable talent grown into a mass swirling void. The abyss continues to stretch at Old Trafford and perpetually haunts supporters.

United’s flanks have been devoid of ethereal talent. Devoid of players with the ability to deceive their opponents and conjure up miracles.

More from Red Devil Armada

An area which has enjoyed such riches now stands barren and it is a curse which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be desperate to break.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move for Jadon Sancho who certainly seems like an outstanding candidate to fill the void left behind by Ronaldo.

However, if the latest reports are to be believed the Red Devils could have the opportunity to sign an even better option.

According to a report by the Daily Express, United and Man City could be offered the chance to sign Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar this summer as negotiations with Barcelona seemed to have stalled.

The report claims, the Red Devils were offered the chance to sign Neymar last summer but rejected the opportunity and mentions that the club’s stance is unlikely to have changed.

However, if it has, Neymar could be a remarkable signing for United. The Brazilian winger is one of the best players in the world and while he may dozed off in France, he has shown in glimpses in the Champions League and international football that he still has what it takes.

Jadon Sancho would be an ideal option for the long term. Though Borussia Dortmund’s demands are rather steep at the moment. Paris Saint Germain might be willing to part ways with Neymar for less.

The 28 year old still has at least five years left in his locker at the very top of his game. Jadon Sancho could potentially have over a decade left and is still bound to improve at such a young age.

So the conundrum United could face this summer is whether to overpay for Sancho which would pay dividends in the future or to go for the finished article in Neymar but only reap the rewards for a short period.
