Manchester United have received some good news.

At Old Trafford the Manchester United board will always have a looming regret lingering over their shoulders. The cumbersome error will weigh them down until they can finally discard the burden and set themselves free. Until then Alexis Sanchez‘s presence will serve as a perpetual reminder of the enormous blunder they made when they brought the Chilean to the North of England.

At the time there was no notion that the transfer would go so wayward. After all, Alexis Sanchez was one of the elite players in the Premier League. The Arsenal star had been tormenting defences week in week out. His sublime first touch, blistering pace and deceitful feints were a nightmare to handle.

Possessing a lethal shot with just the right curve to make the ball nestle into the back of the net past a usually helpless goalkeeper, Alexis Sanchez seemed like a formidable player.

More from Red Devil Armada

It was no surprise that Pep Guardiola was also keen to attract the former Barcelona man to United’s arch rivals.

However, ultimately in a deal which would cost them hugely, United managed to lure Alexis Sanchez to Old Trafford.

The fans were in awe. They rejoiced and taunted their rivals across the city. Alexis Sanchez would be the saviour. The man to erase all those lingering memories of Cristiano Ronaldo and the void he left behind.

Alas, Alexis Sanchez’s time at Old Trafford has hardly lived up to the hype with which he arrived. The Chilean has been a shadow of himself and now past his thirties and on loan at Inter Milan, his future at United is uncertain.

The extortionate wages the Chilean is on has cost the Red Devils dearly and it is something the United board will be desperate to eliminate from their current expenditure.

For some time now, it seemed that Sanchez’s current loan club Inter Milan would be unwilling to sanction a move for the Chilean, however it seems like the Italians have had a change of heart.

According to Goal via the Daily Mail, Inter Milan are prepared to make an offer for Alexis Sanchez for £18 million and lure him to Italy on a permanent deal.

If United can organise a deal, it would bring huge relief to the club’s board and free up much needed resources.
